Event Overview

The Africa Chess Confederation invites young chess players to the Africa Youth Chess Championship 2025. This event will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe from 6th to 14th December 2025 at Cresta Lodge Harare. Chess Kenya will enter a fully sponsored national team (number to be confirmed). Additional self-sponsored players who achieved minimum points in the Kenya National Youth Chess Championship 2025 (held in Kitale from 1st to 5th August 2025) are welcome to participate. The Zimbabwe Chess Federation is prepared to host approximately 1,000 local players, ensuring no scaling down of entries.

Eligibility

• Open to All: Youth players meeting Africa Chess Confederation regulations.
• Additional Players: Must have achieved minimum of 5/8 points in the Kenya National Youth Chess Championship 2025 and secured private sponsorship.

Costs and Fees

Costs are standard, except for air tickets which may fluctuate. All amounts are converted at 1 USD = 132 KES.

• Accommodation: USD880 (~KES116,160) (provisionally USD110/day, double sharing)

Payment must be made to the Chess Kenya dollar account, and evidence of payment (e.g., bank receipt) must be uploaded during registration.

Reservation of Slot

• Pay at least 50% of the total cost by 30th September 2025 (~KES121,440 for players, ~KES 118,140 for accompanying) to guarantee the slot.
• Full payment by 31st October 2025 (~KES242,880 for players, ~KES236,280 for accompanying).
• Non-Refundable: All payments are non-refundable if the player pulls out or cannot travel, unless the issue is from Chess Kenya's side.
